These terms cover bookings for the Butterland bathhouse: the sauna, the plunge pool and the cedar bath. Butterland is run by Greg Hatton Design and Construction Pty Ltd (ABN 43 620 889 723), 2-4 Tivey St, Newstead, Victoria 3462. Weddings and events have their own terms.

The person who makes the booking agrees to these terms and lets the rest of their group know the house rules.

Booking

  • Book and pay online through our booking page, which runs on Square.
  • Your booking is private. The sauna, plunge and bathhouse are yours for the session, with room for up to five people in the sauna and two in the bath.
  • Please book for the number of people coming.
  • Square will email you a confirmation with your date and time.
  • Please arrive 15 minutes before your session.
  • We may ask a few health questions when you book. Please answer them honestly, because they help us look after you.

Payment

  • You pay the full price when you book. Prices are in Australian dollars and are shown on the booking page.
  • Square processes every payment, and we never see your full card details.
  • You can use a Butterland gift voucher on the day. See our gift voucher terms.

Cancelling or moving your booking

  • More than 48 hours before your session, you can cancel for a full refund or move to another date for free.
  • Less than 48 hours before your session, a change of mind can't be refunded, because the time has been set aside for your group and it's hard to fill at short notice. Get in touch anyway and we'll try to move you to another date.
  • If you don't arrive and haven't let us know, the booking is charged in full.
  • If you're unwell, please stay home and call us, and we'll talk about moving your booking.
  • If we have to cancel, because of a Total Fire Ban, unsafe weather or anything on our side, we'll tell you as early as we can and you choose between a full refund and a new date.
  • Refunds go back to the card or voucher you paid with, through Square.

Running late

House rules

  • Only the people on your booking, up to five.
  • Sit on the sauna towel we give you.
  • Arrive freshly showered, and skip body oils and fake tan on the day. The plunge water is treated and tested, and it stays in the pool between sessions, so keeping it clean is a team effort.
  • Keep glass away from the sauna, plunge and bath.
  • Save the drinks for after your session. Alcohol and heat are a bad mix.
  • Keep an eye on each other in the heat and in the water.
  • There are no lockers, so leave valuables at home or locked in your car.
  • Please follow any directions we give you on the day. They're there to keep everyone safe.

Safety

  • Heat bathing and cold plunging put real strain on your body. Before you book, read Before you bathe, and check with your doctor if anything on that page applies to you.
  • Get out of the heat or the water straight away if you feel dizzy, faint, sick or unwell, and tell us.
  • In an emergency, call 000. The address is 2-4 Tivey St, Newstead.

Total Fire Ban days

The sauna is wood-fired and outdoors. On a declared Total Fire Ban day for the North Central district, we may need to move your session. If a ban is declared for your day, we'll contact you as soon as we know, and you choose between a full refund and a new date. You can check fire danger ratings and bans at cfa.vic.gov.au.

Your rights

Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law.
