A Ritual of Heat & Wildness

Experience the wider and wilder side of the Butterland grounds by immersing yourself in the Sauna and or the Bathhouse. A restorative space for relaxation, awakening and nature connection, allowing for both quiet reflection and shared moments of warmth.

Please arrive 15 minutes before appointment, and check directions in advance.

 

Who can sauna?

It is important if you have any health concerns regarding sauna and hot baths that you have contacted your health professional regarding your capacity to enter the sauna and bathing facilities at Butterland.

Pregnant people and small children are not advised to sauna.


what do i bring?

For Sauna - Please bring your togs, a towel and if you prefer, some jandals or similar. We provide sauna towels for placing on the bench of the sauna. Please sit on the towel so that it can absorb any sweat or perspiration during your session. We provide herbal tea for sipping as you sauna. Please bring a reusable water bottle if you like. Warm clothes for after your sauna, particularly in the colder months.

For Bath - Please bring a towel. You may wear togs if you prefer, but that is not necessary. A reusable water bottle if you like. We provide Bath Robes and herbal tea for sipping as you relax in the bath.


do you have change rooms?

For Sauna - Yes we have a non gendered change room and accessible toilets. We do not provide lockable lockers. You are responsible for you belongings while you are participating in the bathhouse activities.

For Bath - the bathing shed is fully private - you shower and change within the bathhouse. Toilet facilities are in the main building


before your visit

We recommend eating a light snack beforehand and staying hydrated.

Avoid using the sauna on a completely empty or full stomach
